Jason Stein was named editor of Automotive News in August 2009. In this role he directs the editorial staff of more than 40 reporters and editors around the world. Mr. Stein also continues to lead Automotive News Europe as publisher of the European operation. The European staff produces several online and print news products and hosts a number of annual events including its annual Congress each summer.
Mr. Stein joined Automotive News in 2003. As a reporter he covered many important automotive beats in the United States and Europe, including General Motors, Volkswagen and Daimler.
Mr. Stein joined Crain Communications from The Journal Gazette, a morning newspaper in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he spent seven years in various roles as an editor, reporter and the paper's first automotive columnist. Prior to that, he worked for four newspapers as well as the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where he was a news, business and sports reporter.
Mr. Stein is Canadian and holds many state and national journalism awards. In 1994, he earned an honors bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario.
